{"id":19661,"date":"2026-01-21T10:12:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T23:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/electricvehiclecouncil.com.au\/?p=19661"},"modified":"2026-01-21T10:12:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T23:12:05","slug":"evs-dominate-ancaps-2025-safety-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/electricvehiclecouncil.com.au\/media-releases\/evs-dominate-ancaps-2025-safety-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"EVs Dominate ANCAP\u2019s 2025 Safety Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Top-performing vehicles assessed this year are electric, reinforcing EV safety leadership.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Electric Vehicle Council (EVC)\u00a0has welcomed the release of ANCAP\u2019s 2025 safety rankings, which confirm that electric vehicles are setting the benchmark for safety on Australian and New Zealand roads.<\/p>\n<p>ANCAP\u2019s latest results show the <strong>Tesla Model Y<\/strong>\u00a0achieved the highest overall safety score of any vehicle tested in 2025, outperforming all other models across the four key pillars of testing &#8211; Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection and Safety Assist.<\/p>\n<p>Six of the top seven vehicles were electric including the Tesla Model 3,\u00a0Volvo EX90, MG IM 5, MG S5 EV and Mini Cooper E, reinforcing that EVs are not only cleaner to drive, but are also among the safest cars available to consumers and fleets today.<\/p>\n<p>Aman Gaur, Acting CEO of the Electric Vehicle Council, said the ANCAP results send a clear signal to Australian car buyers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe case for electric vehicles just keeps getting stronger,\u201d Mr Gaur said. \u201cThese results prove Australians don\u2019t have to choose between going green and staying safe on our roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElectric vehicles are already delivering outstanding protection for drivers, passengers and other road users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs more advanced safety technologies become standard and more EV models enter the market, Australians can expect EV safety performance to continue improving year after year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>ANCAP said its testing reinforced that the safest vehicles are \u2018those designed with safety as a system, not a checklist.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Leading car makers amongst our membership &#8211; including Tesla, Volvo, Polestar and BYD &#8211; agreed the following EV design features were making driving safer for everyone:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Floor-mounted batteries = lower centre of gravity and better stability<\/li>\n<li>Rigid battery platforms built as a safety cell<\/li>\n<li>No engine or fuel tank to intrude in a crash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mr Gaur said the range of high-performing vehicles assessed by ANCAP in 2025 demonstrates that top-tier safety is now achievable across multiple segments, giving families, fleets and businesses greater confidence when choosing an electric vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For the full list of ANCAP safety results, visit \ud83d\udc49 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancap.com.au\/media-and-gallery\/media-releases\/221c38\"><strong>ANCAP Safety<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Top-performing vehicles assessed this year are electric, reinforcing EV safety leadership.
