{"id":15570,"date":"2023-07-05T20:05:33","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T10:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/electricvehiclecouncil.com.au\/?p=15570"},"modified":"2024-07-08T21:03:04","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T11:03:04","slug":"australia-indonesia-leaders-commended-for-ev-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/electricvehiclecouncil.com.au\/media-releases\/australia-indonesia-leaders-commended-for-ev-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia-Indonesia leaders commended for EV partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Statement from Electric Vehicle Council CEO Behyad Jafari on Australia and Indonesia\u2019s agreement to advance cooperation and collaboration on electric vehicle production.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome this commitment between Australia and Indonesia to advance the development of an electric vehicle production ecosystem,\u201d Mr Jafari said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s encouraging to see a shift towards positive leadership from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to develop Australia\u2019s opportunities in the EV sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAustralia has remained in the slow lane with EV uptake and manufacturing for too long &#8211; the change in tone since the federal election has been felt right across the industry and clearly recognised by our global peers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating global partnerships, attracting international investment, and changing perceptions of Australia on the world stage are vital if we want to catch up with and lead the developed world with EVs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCollaborating with Indonesia is an exciting opportunity for our country to get involved in advanced EV battery production. It also shows that despite our international performance and reputation on EVs, countries in our region recognise our potential to shift gears and become an EV-manufacturing powerhouse that harnesses our rich resources and highly skilled workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we can\u2019t be leaders in EV manufacturing and new technology while we remain the world\u2019s dirty car dumping ground.
